The aim of this article is to link immigration with social work in the United States and Great Britain. The article reviews secondary sources to establish the contribution of the pioneering figures of social work and to show the main contributions of the discipline to research and intervention in the field of immigration. These contributions notably include a body of literature that is generally little-known, as well as a series of institutional experiences that have been interpreted as the historical origins of contemporary social work.El objeto de este artículo es vincular la inmigración con el Trabajo Social en los Estados Unidos y Gran Bretaña. A partir de la revisión de fuentes secundarias, se trata de establecer la contribución de las figuras pioneras del Trabajo Social y mostrar las principales aportaciones de la disciplina a la investigación y la intervención en el campo de las migraciones. Entre estas aportaciones destaca una literatura, en general, poco conocida, así como una serie de experiencias institucionales que se han considerado como los orígenes históricos del Trabajo Social contemporáneo. |
