| dc.description.abstract | The 'Crònica universal de 1427', written in the second half of the 15th century, is set in a historical context in which the writing of this type of historiographical work was nothing new. In fact, this 'Crònica' brings to an end the period of greatest production of universal chronicles in Catalan, which had their period of splendour throughout the 14th and 15th centuries. The work can be divided into three very different parts: the first, the longest, narrates the biblical history from Genesis to the Passion of Jesus Christ. The second is based on the two main medieval authorities, imperial and papal, to construct the historical account from the death of Christ to the beginning of the reign of Peter the Great. From this point onwards, the chronicle loses its universal character and focuses on the royal and military affairs of the Crown of Aragon until the reign of Alfonso the Magnanimous, paying special attention to the historical - and also anecdotal - events of the kingdom of Valencia. The compiler's aim is to show the role of the monarchs of the Crown of Aragon, and especially of the Kingdom of Valencia, as an integral part of the uninterrupted stream of that universal history. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | La ‘Crònica universal de 1427’, escrita la segona meitat del segle XV, s’emmarca en un context històric en què la redacció d’aquests tipus d’obres historiogràfiques no era cap novetat. De fet, aquesta ‘Crònica’ dona per finalitzat el període de major efervescència quant a la producció de cròniques universals en català, que van viure una època d’esplendor al llarg dels segles XIV i XV. L’obra es pot dividir en tres parts molt desiguals entre si: a la primera, la més extensa, l’autor narra la història bíblica des del Gènesi fins a la mort i passió de Jesucrist. La segona part es fonamenta en les dues principals autoritats medievals, la imperial i la pontifícia, per bastir el relat històric des de la mort de Crist fins als inicis del regnat de Pere el Gran. A partir d’aquest punt, la crònica perd el seu caràcter universal i se centra en els afers reials i militars de la Corona d’Aragó fins al regnat d’Alfons el Magnànim, parant especial atenció en els fets històrics –i també en altres d’anecdòtics– del regne de València. L’objectiu del compilador és mostrar el paper dels monarques de la Corona d’Aragó, i especialment del regne de Valencia, com a part integrant del torrent ininterromput de aquella historia universal. | es_ES |
