The new humanist movement that entered during the 16th century in Spain substantially changed the current medical thou- ghts. However, the medieval tradition was still configuring the contents and form of several writings of the period. Considering this fact, this paper studies the direct references to Galen made by the Spanish physician Álvaro de Castro in his Antidotarium , probably written in the early 16th century, in order to determine whether he developed a humanist attitude or he was still influen - ced by the medieval tradition, with the so called ?Arabized Galen? as fundamental source. |
