dc.description.abstract This article tackles the birth of the modern state after the end of the Thirty Years' war, following Schmitt and Foucault's political thought. The latter's theory of the 'large spaces', and the theory of governance by the French philosopher (with its special attention to biopolitics and the police) allows us to shed light in the main characteristics of the State-form that emerged from Westfalia.
