Este trabajo, presentado como Trabajo de Fin de Grado de Historia, consiste en la realización de un estado de la cuestión sobre la identidad femenina dentro de la cultura política socialista, desde la fundación del PSOE hasta 1939, fecha en que el franquismo triunfa en la totalidad del Estado español, acabando así tanto con el movimiento socialista como con el feminista previos. El principal objetivo de este trabajo es la realización de un análisis sistemático de la bibliografía publicada en torno a la cuestión de las relaciones de género dentro de la cultura política socialista (PSOE, UGT, agrupaciones socialistas locales…), señalando en qué temas han sido abordados por la historiografía y en qué medida han sido presentados, prestando especial atención a las aportaciones de la Historia Social y Cultural aparecidas desde los años noventa. Tras presentar el tema y justificar su relevancia científica y social, se abordan la historia de las relaciones de género y la identidad femenina específica dentro de la cultura política socialista entre 1879 y 1939, dividiendo el trabajo en tres grandes apartados temáticos, que a su vez están divididos siguiendo criterios cronológicos. En primer lugar, se analiza la actividad política y sindical de las mujeres socialistas en el PSOE y sus agrupaciones femeninas hasta 1931, sobre todo a partir del caso de la Agrupación Femenina Socialista de Madrid; posteriormente se estudia la actividad política de las mujeres socialistas durante la II República, prestando especial atención a la actividad parlamentaria, aunque teniendo en cuenta que gran parte del debate en las Cortes en torno al sufragio no fue llevado a cabo por mujeres militantes en el PSOE, pero que esta fuerza política fue fundamental tanto para la aprobación parlamentaria del mismo como para la creación de un estado de opinión favorable. Y después, se investiga la posibilidad de existencia de una identidad socialista específica dentro del contexto antifascista durante la Guerra Civil, lo cual resulta complicado ante la hegemonía comunista o anarcosindicalista a partir de mediados de 1936. En segundo lugar, se analizan los discursos políticos sobre género e identidad femenina, comenzando por el discurso hegemónico socialista que supedita la emancipación sexual a la social, y sus excepciones y matizaciones (como María Cambrils o Margarita Nelken), siguiendo con los cambios y resistencias que tuvieron lugar durante el período republicano, y finalizando con la cristalización de identidades femeninas durante la Guerra Civil de importancia simbólica, como la figura de la miliciana o la resignificación de la maternidad, intentando buscar de nuevo la especificidad socialista y sus problemáticas relaciones con las demás culturas políticas de izquierda. En tercer lugar, se presta especial atención a las publicaciones en torno a la vida de las principales mujeres socialistas de este período histórico. El trabajo incluye una valoración de aquellos aspectos que no están presentes en la historiografía y recomendaciones de cara a investigaciones futuras, de entre las cuales podríamos destacar la importancia de realizar investigaciones fuera de los ámbitos madrileño y catalán, o la necesidad de investigar en profundidad la cuestión del lesbianismo.

This dissertation, presented as Final Year Project of the Degree in History in the University of Valencia, is the realization of a state of the investigation of female identity within the socialist political culture since the founding of the Spanish Socialist Party, in 1879, until 1939, when Franco triumphs in the whole Spanish State, ending both the previous socialist and feminists movements. The main aim of this project is to do a systematic review of the published literature regarding the issue of gender relations within the socialist political culture (PSOE, UGT, local socialist groups...), stating which issues have been researched by historians and how they have been presented, focusing on the contributions of the Social and Cultural History that have appeared specially since the nineties. After introducing the subject and having justified its scientific and social relevance, we focus on the history of gender relations and specific female identity within the socialist political culture between 1879 and 1939, dividing the project into three thematic sections, which are divided themselves according to chronological criteria. Firstly, we analyze the political and union activity of socialist women and feminine groups of the PSOE until 1931, especially the case of Madrid Socialist Women's Group; following this, we study the political activity of socialist women during the Second Republic, paying special attention to parliamentary activity, as, despite much of the parliamentary debate about the suffrage was not carried out by PSOE militant women, this political force was very important for the parliamentary approval of the law, as well as in creating a favorable public opinion. Then, we investigate the possibility of existence of a specific identity within the antifascist movement during the Spanish Civil War, which is difficult to determinate because of the communist or anarcho-syndicalist hegemony from 1936. Secondly, we analyze the political discourses on gender and female identity, starting with the socialist hegemonic discourse that subordinates the sexual emancipation to the social one, and seeing its exceptions and specifications (with women such as Mary Cambrils or Margarita Nelken), along with the changes and resistances that took place during the Republican period, and ending with the crystallization of female identities of symbolic importance during the Civil War, like the figure of the militiwoman or the redefinition of motherhood, trying to find, again, the socialist specificity and its problematic relations with the other leftist political cultures. Thirdly, we give special attention to publications around the life of the main socialist women of this historical period. The work includes a review of those aspects that are not present in the historiography, and it also gives some recommendations for future research projects; we can highlight the importance of researching outside Madrid and Catalonia, or the necessity of advancing in the question of lesbianism.
